Psychotherapist Brooklyn, NYC

Amanda Loch, LMSW
The first real relief I found from my personal struggles came from an art therapy group, thanks both to the members and an unconditionally loving facilitator. It was in that moment that I realized how healing and powerful the right relationships and the right environment can be. More relief and healing came over the years thanks to wonderful counselors and friends as well as meditation, hiking, and an ongoing creative practice which kept me playing and rebuilding a mind-body connection. My own experiences with healing trauma inform the way I work with clients today.
My mission in life is help people transform suffering into flourishing. I care deeply about helping people liive life on their own terms rather than on the conditions of unhealed wounds, whether those wounds are personal, interpersonal, or societal.
As a therapist, I integrate ecotherapy, play therapy, hakomi, and somatic processing. In my sessions, I meet clients where they are at and tailor approaches to fit their unique dispositions and life experiences. I focus on processing past and present trauma that is still impacting day to day life as well as resolving suffering that may be stemming from interpersonal and community fractures. I hope to instil a sense of being enough in my clients and help them recognize that they have power make positive change, use their voice, and overcome challenges.
When I’m not working, I love to take walks, get coffee with my friends, practice Spanish, and read. I have a background in the arts and get immense joy from playing with people, trying new workshops, and daring myself into healthy discomfort.
