Aniko Gomory, LMSW

As a former experiential educator, I have a strong knowledge of human behavior and have helped contribute to major transformations in my former students’ lives. These past experiences laid the foundation for my work as a therapist. I have a deep belief in the power of therapy, self-reflection, empowerment, and examining behaviors to help determine whether those issues are prohibiting people from living lives of peace, self-knowledge, and fulfillment. I chose to become a therapist in order to provide a space for people to do just that. I have seen the power of therapy in my own life and the lives of others, and want to spend my life sharing this gift.

As a therapist, I specialize in helping adults navigate anxiety, feelings of depression, issues with communication, boundary-setting, as well as challenging family and relationship dynamics. I work through a psychodynamic lens, stemming from the belief that the history of our lives helps us to understand our current issues, beliefs, and coping strategies. Integrating a unique combination of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, psychoeducation, mindfulness, yoga, and grounding strategies I help clients find the relief that they need. I’m strongly committed to client empowerment and believe that the client should be in the driver’s seat of their therapeutic experience.

Past clients report cultivating a stronger sense of self-confidence, increased self-knowledge, and practical coping strategies that they are able to use long after therapy has concluded. They also acknowledge an ease in navigating relationships and any challenges that arise in the course of their lives.

I was raised in Tallahassee, Florida, and have lived in New York since 2016. When not working as a therapist, I enjoy spending time in New York City parks, hanging out with friends and family, traveling, and reading.
