Grace Dumais bio

Grace Dumais, LMSW

For as long as I can remember, I struggled with overwhelming anxiety. Every morning, going to school meant tears and frequent visits to the nurse’s office with mysterious “stomach aches.” At the time, I didn’t have the language to understand that what I was feeling physically was rooted in anxiety. Navigating that journey showed me how isolating it can feel when your body and emotions seem out of your control, and it inspired my deep passion to make sure other children never have to navigate those feelings alone.

My work centers on helping children and adolescents manage anxiety, ADHD, and complex emotional or developmental transitions. Big emotions can feel scary and chaotic, both for kids and their families. I help young clients recognize that while emotions are natural, they have the power to understand, regulate, and take control of how they respond to them.

My goal is to create a safe, warm space where children feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. Meaningful progress starts with a foundation of trust and psychological safety, so rather than focusing on broad goals that can overwhelm a child, I break our work into small, approachable steps. Using an integrative, child-centered foundation and play therapy methods, I guide young clients in identifying big emotions, developing actionable coping strategies, and building lasting self-regulation skills.

Through consistent work together, children learn to accurately name what they are experiencing, connect their physical sensations to their emotions, and develop healthy, lifelong tools to navigate challenges with confidence and resilience.

Outside of the therapy room, you can find me trying new local coffee shops, reading, going on walks, working out at the gym, and spending quality time with my family and loved ones.
