Psychotherapist Brooklyn, NYC

Jennifer Ilyayeva, Clinical Intern
I’m a first-generation American and the eldest daughter of three siblings, experiences that deeply shaped my understanding of responsibility, identity, and emotional resilience. Growing up between cultures sparked an early curiosity about psychology—especially how people adapt, cope, and make meaning of their lives within complex personal and cultural contexts.
My path into this work wasn’t linear. I spent time working with children, navigating corporate environments, and holding various client-facing roles. Alongside this, my own healing journey through therapy and spirituality helped clarify what mattered most to me. Eventually, I felt called to return to graduate school so I could support others in their own processes of growth, healing, and self-understanding.
In my practice, I support teens and adults navigating high-functioning anxiety, people-pleasing and boundary challenges, relational and childhood trauma, family dynamics, identity exploration, life transitions, self-worth, and emotional regulation. I’m especially drawn to working with people who appear “fine” on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or self-critical internally.
I see therapy as a space for grounding, reflection, and reconnection—not about fixing yourself, but about coming home to who you are beneath expectations and survival patterns. My goal is to offer a compassionate, supportive environment where clients feel safe enough to explore, grow, and move toward greater authenticity and ease.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, cycling and strength training, cooking, studying, and teaching spirituality and astrology, and spending time with my Shih Tzu.
