Psychotherapist Brooklyn, NYC

Nick DeFazio,
LMSW
A major turning point in my life was experiencing suicidal ideation at the tender age of 13. As I began receiving therapy to work through my own depression and trauma, I realized that I wanted to help others going through similar struggles and that my lived experience would be an asset as a therapist. My experience of being queer and living with Borderline Personality Disorder grants me a unique background to draw from when working with clients.
As a therapist, I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ teens and adults. I’m also passionate about working with individuals living with Borderline Personality Disorder, a population often stigmatized even in the mental health community. My approach is client-centered and incorporates treatment modalities such as CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing.
In a field where clinical detachment can sometimes prevail, I strive to offer a personal touch. My clients are seeking lives filled with meaning, healthy relationships, and resilience, and I’m here to support them every step of the way. Past clients report developing a better sense of self, improving relationships, as well as learning emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills that are essential to mitigating crises.
In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar, going on walks, cuddling with my dog, Yaz, and spending time with close friends.
