We had an incredible time connecting with students, parents, and educators at PS 264 Bay Ridge Elementary School for the Arts during their recent Health Fair! Events like these remind us how powerful community engagement can be in building awareness around children’s mental health and the importance of accessible, friendly support.

As a Brooklyn-based practice that focuses on anxiety, emotional wellness, and resilience for children and families, Resilient Mind Psychotherapy was proud to participate—and even prouder to see so many little faces light up as they explored our table, asked questions, and got creative with our activities.

Creating a Safe & Fun Space for Kids to Explore Emotions

Our booth was buzzing with color and energy. We brought along hands-on materials designed to spark curiosity and creativity in children—because talking about emotions doesn’t always have to feel serious or scary. Our team offered:

🎨 Beading & bracelet-making: Kids were invited to choose their favorite colors and words to create “bravery bracelets”—a fun way to express themselves and learn about emotional symbols.

📚 Kid-friendly mental wellness handouts: Illustrated guides on breathing exercises, feeling words, and how to talk about worries at home.

🧠 Information for parents about the benefits of child therapy, how art and play can help with anxiety, and how to reach out for support when kids seem overwhelmed or withdrawn.

From quiet children who became totally absorbed in beadwork to curious students proudly showing off their bracelets, it was a joy to see emotional expression and connection unfold in real time.

Why Events Like These Matter

Mental health conversations can (and should) start early. By showing up at schools like PS 264, we help normalize the idea that it’s okay to feel big feelings—and that asking for help is not only brave, it’s healthy.

We believe strongly in meeting families where they are. Community events like health fairs break down barriers by making resources visible, approachable, and human. When kids can associate mental wellness with fun, learning, and kindness, they’re more likely to grow up emotionally aware and resilient.

Gratitude for the PS 264 Community

A huge thank you to the amazing staff at PS 264 Bay Ridge Elementary School for the Arts for organizing such a thoughtful and engaging event. Your dedication to health and wellness—not just physically, but emotionally—sets a powerful tone for the students in your care.

And to the many parents, teachers, and families who stopped by to ask questions, grab materials, or join in on the creative activities: thank you for your openness. These conversations are how change begins.

Continuing the Work

At Resilient Mind Psychotherapy, we offer:

We’re here for Brooklyn families who want tools, guidance, and emotional growth for their children—whether they’re dealing with daily worries, big life changes, or deeper emotional struggles.

We believe in empowering parents and helping kids discover their inner strengths.

Looking Ahead

This visit to PS 264 reminded us that wellness is a community effort—and we’re excited to continue building partnerships with local schools and organizations. We’ll definitely be back!

If you’re a parent, school staff member, or organization interested in hosting Resilient Mind at your next event, we’d love to connect. Education and prevention are key to raising emotionally healthy kids.

Together, we’re raising resilient minds—one child, one bracelet, and one brave conversation at a time.
