Psychotherapist Brooklyn, NYC
Olesya Lazarev, LMSW
I am a trained, licensed and experienced clinician with a passion for helping individuals overcome mental health challenges. Many years back I experienced the death of a loved one which immersed me in depression, anxiety, and an eating disorder. I found it difficult to navigate life and cope with these challenges. Eventually, I moved from Ukraine to the United States and found it the perfect opportunity for a fresh start. I began engaging in practices such as yoga, meditation, and journaling which played a pivotal role in my self-healing. As I found more peace and balance in my life I realized that I wanted to help others who were dealing with their own mental health issues.
As a therapist, I specialize in working with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that every individual has the capacity for growth and healing. In addition to traditional evidence-based therapies, I also draw upon alternative modalities such as mindfulness and narrative therapy to help clients explore their inner world and gain deeper insights into their emotions and experiences. I bring empathy, understanding, and a non-judgmental attitude to each of my sessions, and work collaboratively with my clients to develop personalized treatment plans that are tailored to their unique needs.
My ultimate goal as a clinician is to help my clients achieve lasting and meaningful change in their lives. Some of the positive changes that clients report after consistently working with me include feeling more in control of their emotions, improvements in relationships, a greater range of coping skills, healthier boundaries, and an increased sense of meaningfulness in their lives.
Outside my work, as a therapist, I enjoy spending time with my family and pursuing personal interests and hobbies. I live on long island with my husband and my two young children. Together we love exploring our local area and trying new experiences. Some of our favorite activities include visiting museums, aquariums, and local fairs. My hobbies include growing orchids, snowboarding, yoga, and meditation. By staying connected to my passions and taking care of myself, I am better able to show up for my clients and support them on their paths toward growth and healing.
