Sara Arika, LMSW

Relocating from Morocco to the United States was a life-altering experience that profoundly shaped who I am as a clinician. As a teenager arriving in an unfamiliar country, culture, and language, the transition was frightening and isolating. I left behind the comfort of a large family and strong support system and struggled emotionally with disconnection and cultural adjustment. Over time, support from my immediate family and the meaningful community relationships I built helped me adapt and heal. These experiences taught me firsthand the power of resilience, compassion, and connection, ultimately leading me to pursue a career in social work to help others feel seen, supported, and empowered through life’s challenges.

My mission in life is to uplift and empower individuals and families to identify their strengths, cope with difficulty, and seek support so they can build healthier, more stable, and meaningful lives. I primarily work with children, adolescents, and families facing behavioral, emotional, and academic challenges, including concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, ODD, and truancy. Many of the families I support come from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, allowing me to bring cultural awareness and sensitivity into my practice.

My clinical approach is grounded in authentic empathy, cultural humility, and a strengths-based framework. Having navigated major cultural transitions myself, I bring a deep understanding of change, emotional growth, and resilience into my work. I take time to understand each client’s history, strengths, culture, and goals, working collaboratively to create a personalized roadmap for growth. Clients often experience increased emotional awareness, confidence, stronger relationships, and lasting skills that continue to support them long after our work together ends.

Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and cooking traditional Moroccan dishes. These passions keep me grounded in the values of connection, curiosity, empathy, and appreciation for diversity—values that continue to inspire my work as a social worker and my commitment to helping others heal and thrive.
